In my day job I work as a consultant to change policies and systems to benefit children, families and communities. My life commitment is to reducing suffering—especially that of children—to preventing child abuse and neglect, supporting and strengthening families, and ultimately to advancing social justice on a large scale. When I discovered Kundalini Yoga (as taught by Yogi Bhajan) three years ago, I found a way to integrate my spiritual life with my professional path – and to serve people directly.
Kundalini Yoga is a powerful, challenging, energizing and also forgiving, calming, dependable, and loving fast track to health and happiness. It incorporates breath, mantras / chanting, meditation, Naam (science of sound), Ayurveda, Indian medicine-- including healing mudras (hand postures), and asanas (postures) put together into sets (called kriyas) designed to achieve specific effects on the body and mind.
I practice Kundalini Yoga simply because it works. In my own life, Kundalini Yoga helped me to lose 45 lbs and to move out of clinical depression (and eliminate the need for anti-depressant medication). Through my daily spiritual practice, I have a much better relationship with my body; control over my mind; and a stronger, clearer connection to Source / God / Higher Consciousness / Self.
I teach Kundalini Yoga because I want to share this transformative technology with others. Its effects begin immediately – many people report noticeable improvement in their mental, physical and emotional well-being after only one class.
In addition to being a certified Kundalini Yoga teacher through Chicago’s Kundalini Yoga in the Loop (Shakta Kaur, Director), I am also certified in Radiant Child Yoga (Levels 1 and 2), Yoga for Youth teacher certification workshop, and more than 100 hours of Naam Yoga teacher training (through Universal Force Healing Center in New York City). I also have an interest and commitment to exploring and manifesting the connections between Kundalini Yoga and traditional Judaism.
