Rebecca Flanagan, E-RYT 200
From the moment I experienced the tranquility of my first yoga class I knew I wanted to incorporate this into my life and help others find peace and a similar balance. The idea of combining the mind, the body and the spirit led me to become a certified yoga instructor through the Temple of Kriya Yoga.
Shortly after beginning my teaching, I met the late Yoga Master Roger Eischens who was a long time student of BKS Iyengar, and I had the great honor to study with Roger. His depth of understanding of human bodies was unsurpassed; he taught alignment and resistance relating to the movement of energy in the body; and the most important aspect of his teaching was the “learning process” and what it means to be an effective teacher.
I hope to share my love for the asanas and meditation by guiding others to find their “inner teacher” and experience the energy of life that yoga brings. Self-realization, I think, comes when we let go of what we cannot control and slide into that deep pool of self-awareness and connectedness to what is at any moment in time.
And finally, I have been invited by The Temple of Kriya Yoga to become one of three primary teachers in the 9 month 2008-2009 Hatha Yoga Teacher Training program. It is my intention to use this opportunity to give back to the new students the wisdom and love that was given to me when I studied there.
